Common faults

(1) The central transmission gear pair has early wear. 

① The lubricating oil in the rear axle housing is insufficient, or the diesel oil is diluted and too many mechanical impurities enter the lubricating oil, which worsens the lubricating conditions and accelerates the gear wear; 

② The normal meshing mark and meshing clearance of the central transmission gear pair were damaged, resulting in tooth surface peeling and early damage; 

③ The large and small bevel gears are not replaced in pairs, resulting in abnormal meshing of the gear pair, which makes a loud noise when working, and the teeth fall out after working for hundreds or even dozens of hours; 

④ Some parts of the central transmission are inherently deficient in manufacturing. For example, the tooth shape processing of the large and small bevel gears of the central drive does not meet the design requirements, the raw material contains interlayer when forging the gear blank, and the interlayer stress changes during use, resulting in the interlayer falling off, etc.

 

(2) Abnormal noise. The noise of the rear axle is relatively complex, the components are out of specification, the installation and adjustment are improper during assembly, and the wear is excessive after use. Various noises will also occur during driving.

 

(3) Overheating. Bearing assembly is too tight; The meshing clearance of driving and driven gears is too small; Lack of lubricating oil or too thin lubricating oil causes dry friction of all gears, burns out reducer and differential gears and bearings, and causes serious mechanical accidents; Oil leakage from the central drive and final drive will also cause the rear axle to overheat.

 

(4) Oil leakage. Most of them are due to loose fasteners, deformation of joint surface, damage of sealing gasket, improper installation of framework oil seal or wear, aging, deformation, etc; The pressure in the rear axle housing increases due to the blockage of the air vent of the rear axle housing, which causes the leakage of lubricating oil; Excessive rear axle gear oil causes oil leakage, etc.

 

Use and maintenance of rear axle

Regularly check the fastening condition of bolts at all connecting parts, and timely tighten them as required in case of looseness. Regularly check the oil level and quality of the central drive and final drive gear chambers, and add or replace the lubricating oil that meets the requirements when necessary. In case of serious leakage, check the sealing device of relevant parts, and replace it in time in case of damage. After the new locomotive has been used for a certain time (or kilometers), the lubricating oil in the gear chamber of the rear axle (drive axle) shall be discharged, the box shall be cleaned and the lubricating oil shall be replaced. If the rear axle makes abnormal noise or the box is overheated during use, stop the vehicle immediately to check and eliminate the fault. Regularly check and adjust the bearing clearance (or preload) and gear meshing marks.
