1.Working conditions and requirements of cylinder head
The cylinder head bears the mechanical load caused by gas force and cylinder head bolt tightening. At the same time, it also bears high thermal load due to contact with high-temperature gas. In order to ensure the good sealing of the cylinder, the cylinder head must not be damaged or deformed. To this end, the cylinder head should have sufficient strength and rigidity. In order to make the temperature distribution of the cylinder head as uniform as possible and avoid the thermal cracks between the intake and exhaust valve seats, the cylinder head should be fully cooled.
2.Cylinder head material
Cylinder heads are generally made of high-quality gray cast iron or alloy cast iron, while most gasoline engines used in automobiles use aluminum alloy cylinder heads.
3.Cylinder head structure
The cylinder head is a box-shaped part with complex structure. It is processed with intake and exhaust valve seat holes, valve guide holes, spark plug mounting holes (gasoline engines) or injector mounting holes (diesel engines). The cylinder head is also cast with water jacket, intake and exhaust channels and combustion chamber or part of combustion chamber. If the camshaft is installed on the cylinder head, the cylinder head is also equipped with cam bearing hole or cam bearing seat and its lubricating oil channel.
The cylinder head of a water-cooled engine has three structural forms: integral, integral and monobloc. In a multi-cylinder engine, if all cylinders share a cylinder head, the cylinder head is called an integral cylinder head; If every two cylinders have a cylinder head or every three cylinders have a cylinder head, the cylinder head is a cylinder body type cylinder head; If each cylinder has a head, it is a single cylinder head. All air-cooled engines are single-cylinder cylinder heads.
