Necessity of oil filter

In order to reduce the friction resistance between the relative moving parts in the engine and reduce the wear of the parts, the oil is continuously delivered to the friction surfaces of the moving parts to form a lubricating oil film for lubrication. The engine oil itself contains a certain amount of gum, impurities, water and additives. At the same time, during the engine operation, the introduction of metal debris, the entry of impurities in the air, and the generation of oil oxides make the impurities in the oil gradually increase.

If the engine oil directly enters the lubricating oil circuit without filtering, the impurities contained in the engine oil will be brought to the friction surface of the motion pair, accelerating the wear of parts and reducing the service life of the engine. The function of the oil filter is to filter out impurities, gums and moisture in the oil and deliver clean oil to the lubricating parts.

 

The oil filter consists of the following components, which together constitute the overall function of the oil filter.

1) Iron tank (outer cylinder): a container used to hold the continuous pressure operation of filter (filter paper). It is generally required that the thickness is 0.4 - 0.6mm (trolley), 0.6 - 1.0mm (cart), and the thickness of the pull body is not more than 20% - 25%. It is required that it will not be deformed or damaged when the pressure is 4-7kg;

2) Spring: It is used to press the filter (paper core) and fix it in the iron can during vibration and oil flow. Plate springs are also used, but the cost is high;

3) But the rubber ring of the directional valve (return valve): used to prevent the oil from flowing back, so that there is oil in the oil filter for a long time, and the engine can be lubricated immediately when it is just started;

4) Filter: it is used to filter sludge in oil. The filter materials used are generally divided into surface filter type and laminated filter type, which are composed of filter paper and upper and lower bottom covers. The filter paper is mostly folded on the surface;

5) Internal iron mesh: used to support and fix the paper core;

6) Safety valve: it is installed on the filter (paper core), and its function is to automatically open it to let the oil stay after the oil pressure reaches 1kg when the filter (paper core) is blocked;

7) Bottom plate: used to connect the iron tank (outer cylinder) and fix the oil filter on the engine;

8) Connecting plate: used to fix the rubber ring on the base plate;

9) Sealing ring: the oil grid plays a sealing role when installed on the engine. It is installed on the connecting plate, generally 1.2 -- 1.6 mm higher than the oil grid, and its temperature resistance is required to reach - 40 ℃ -+140 ℃ without aging (generally requiring vulcanization treatment).
