The maintenance methods are as follows:

1. The engine oil must be used well

In terms of oil, turbocharger is relatively "noble" and requires more oil than ordinary naturally aspirated engine. Most oil combustion is caused by the damage of the oil seal between the turbocharger and the intake pipe. Because the main shaft of the turbocharger adopts floating design, the whole main shaft relies on lubricating oil for heat dissipation and lubrication. If inferior oil is used, due to its high viscosity and poor fluidity, the floating turbine spindle will not be able to lubricate and dissipate heat.

Suggestion: Turbocharger is suitable for full synthetic oil, and the oil change cycle should be appropriately shortened. The oil with good oil quality will also have better oxidation resistance, wear resistance, high temperature resistance, lubrication and heat dissipation.

 

2. Replace the oil filter and air filter in time

Special attention should be paid to replacing the oil filter and air filter of the turbine model in time and maintaining the cleanliness of the turbine. Generally speaking, the fit clearance between turbocharger shaft and shaft sleeve is very small. If the oil used is not pure or the oil filter is not clean, the turbocharger will be excessively worn. Secondly, due to a large amount of impurities in the air, once the dust particles enter the high-speed operation, the dust particles will impact the turbocharger, resulting in unstable operation and wear of the turbine.

It should be noted that the turbocharger is very special for the removal and replacement of the filter. When removing the turbocharger, block the air inlet, exhaust port and oil inlet, and do not touch the actuator and connecting rod to avoid deformation.

 

3. Slow down when starting a cold car, and shut down when idling when the hot car

During cold start, the oil temperature is usually low and viscous, and the lubrication effect is poor. Therefore, the lubrication effect can only be achieved after the temperature rises to normal temperature. During this process, if the turbine is forced to work at full load, it will wear out. Therefore, it is recommended to idle the cold vehicle for 3-5 minutes before driving. Especially in winter, it must be very hot before driving.

In addition, when parking, it is better to idle in place for a while and then shut down the engine, because the temperature of the turbocharger after working will be very high. After the engine is shut down, the turbine will continue to run for a period of time due to inertia, that is, it still needs the role of lubricating oil at this time. If the engine is shut down immediately after shutdown, the cooling system and lubricating oil supply will also be stopped, which will damage the vehicle bearings. Therefore, let the engine run for 2-3 minutes before stalling so that the turbine has enough time to cool down.

Summary: For the maintenance of turbocharging, it is particularly important to pay attention to two points. First, use high-quality oil. Although the cost is higher than that of the ordinary naturally aspirated engine, it can produce the maximum performance of the turbine; Secondly, in daily use, it is necessary to preheat the car before walking, and do not shut down the engine immediately when parking. Idle for about 3 minutes can play a certain role in protecting the turbine from wear.
