Types of Oil Filters

Full-Flow Oil Filter:

The full flow oil filter is the most commonly used type in automobiles, also known as the primary oil filter. It is designed to clean and remove impurities from all oils used by the engine. The full flow filter is specially designed to work at colder temperatures. Cold weather will cause the oil to thicken, and the oil will thicken during cold start.

These filters allow oil to flow more freely in the engine than other types of filters. If the filter limit is too large, the engine may run out of oil, thus damaging its parts. This is why the full flow filter is better because it provides enough oil for efficient engine performance.

Cartridge Oil Filter:

The filter cartridge is a full flow oil filter, which is not too complicated and easy to use. It is installed vertically for easy inspection without oil removal. These filters are available in both metal and fiber types, but fiber is easier to recycle in most cases.

Spin-On Oil Filter:

Spin on filter is another full flow oil filter, which contains a steel tank with paper components. The owner can easily repair by himself, because the installation is simple and requires only the least tools.

Secondary or By-pass Oil Filter:

In some vehicles, the secondary oil filter is used to support vehicles with full flow filters. It is designed to purify less than 10% of the engine oil. Contaminants not removed by the full flow filter will be removed by the secondary filter. These filter types extend the service life of the oil and ensure additional protection of the engine.

Spinner Oil Filter:

Rotating oil is a secondary oil filter that uses centrifugal force to trap contaminants from the engine oil. Some filters can generate forces in excess of 2000, which is greater than gravity. These filter types remove the minimum contaminants from the oil.

Magnetic Oil Filter:

Like the rotary oil filter, the magnetic oil filter is a secondary filter that supports the full flow version. It is designed to effectively remove metal contaminants from the oil, but does not clean dust and dirt.

The magnetic oil filter does not need to be replaced like other types of oil filters. All it needs is regular cleaning to maintain its function.
