Precautions For Radiator Ventilation

When the radiator is installed at the end of the engine, the radiator is as close as possible to the exhaust port, otherwise hot air may flow back. It is recommended that the maximum distance between the radiator and the outlet is 150mm.

If the generator set cannot be positioned according to the above method, an exhaust duct must be designed in the system. The minimum cross-sectional area of the air duct must be equal to the cooling area of the radiator. Generally, a canvas air duct equipped with a steel flange to connect the radiator and exhaust louvers. The elbow of the wind channel must be a perfect radius. If a long process pipeline is required, the interface area of the pipeline must be enlarged to reduce the back pressure of the radiator.

The air inlet and outlet are usually equipped with blinds, and the ineffective area occupied by the blinds must be considered at this time. The large amount of air required for cooling and combustion of diesel engines is often overlooked. For this reason, it is recommended that the air intake area should be at least twice the effective area of the engine's heat dissipation.

All openings should be protected to prevent rainwater from entering. In winter, when the generator is in standby state, the temperature of the generator room should be maintained, and the air inlet and outlet should have adjustable shutters so that the generator can be opened and closed when the unit is out of service. You can  choose a engine cooling system heater to ensure the low temperature start performance of the generator.
